Pine Tree Commercial Realty to
Blend Nature & Fashion in New
Lifestyle Center Planned for
Westfield
WESTFIELD,
Ind. (September 21, 2007) – Lantern Commons, an upscale
lifestyle center incorporating natural wooded areas and streams
with urban retail, is coming to Westfield, a north suburb of
Indianapolis. Barry Herring and Peter Borzak,
founding partners of Pine Tree Commercial Realty based in
Indianapolis and Chicago, announced that the $83 million
project will consist of 430,000 square feet of retail on 64
acres located on the northeast corner of US Highway 31 and E.
161st Street.
According to
Pine Tree Senior Vice President Lee Pearson, who oversees
design and construction, Lantern Commons will feature a “Main
Street” Americana feel, including fountains, gazebos, street
lamps, tree-lined walkways, foot bridges over native streams,
brick and masonry facades sporting colorful awnings, planters,
public art, a clock tower and more. To accomplish the careful
attention to detail that plans to rival anything thus far built
in the area, Pine Tree hired the national New York-based
architectural firm GreenburgFarrow, which has designed
and built several lifestyle centers primarily in New York and
California. “We’re hoping to break ground in summer 2008,”
Pearson says,” then have stores opening in the fall of 2009.”
Fashion
Anchors, Boutiques and “A Wooded Feel”
Nestled among
the quaint streetscapes will be at least three national anchors
including two fashionable department stores of about 100,000
square feet each. Pearson says there would also be space for an
additional two to four mid-size national or regional retailers
and several outlots for free- standing restaurants and business
tenants, such as banks. In addition, there will be a retail
complex for boutique type retail, in-line restaurants, and the
potential for some office.
